Disposal of Old Devices

Electrical and Electronic Equipment - Disposal Instructions

You've just set up with us and would like to dispose of your old equipment in an easy, sustainable, and legally compliant manner? We've taken care of finding a suitable solution for you and have secured a simple and free option. In doing this, we have joined the electroretoure24 take-back system of EARN Electrical Appliances Service GmbH, which provides you with collection points for an appropriate free disposal option.

As an end user of electrical and/or electronic devices that are exclusively or predominantly used in private households, you should take note of the following advice to ensure environmentally friendly disposal of old devices as well as your own safety.

Separation

As the owner of old devices, you must dispose of them separately from unsorted municipal waste. Electrical and electronic devices should not be disposed of as unsorted municipal waste and do not belong in household trash. You must collect electrical and electronic devices separately and dispose of them through local collection and return points.

The symbol for the separate collection of electrical and electronic devices is a crossed-out wheeled bin. You can identify old devices that must be collected separately from unsorted municipal waste by this symbol, as specified in Annex 3 to the ElektroG.

Batteries & Light Bulbs

Before you dispose of devices that contain batteries and/or light bulbs, you must remove any batteries/light bulbs that are not enclosed by the device. The removed batteries should then be taken to a battery sales point or to recycling centers or other battery collection facilities for free disposal.

Data Protection

Certain electrical and electronic devices contain data storage components that may still hold personal or other confidential data, which should not fall into the hands of third parties (e.g., computers, laptops, tablets, smartphones, etc.). We explicitly highlight that as the end user of devices, you are personally responsible for deleting personal and other confidential data from devices to be disposed of.
